Lift Up Your Heads

P1020298This is what is called a prophetic word.  I hear it as if the words are being spoken into my mind and write it down as I “hear” it.  Please always pray before and as you read.  By definition I am human and imperfect.  In addition, when the Holy Spirit “downloads” a word, it will either resonate with you or it will not and that’s okay.  No one prophetic word is for every person.  And this is my prayer for you: ”LORD, please lead each reader perfectly and cause them to receive and remember, only that which is from You for them.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.” ~ Elizabeth

Humbly written out as “heard” March 28, 2018 (Wednesday of Holy Week) by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro © 2018

Lift up your heads My children. Lift up your heads. You are looking too low. You are looking for things of this world. That is not wrong, but it distracts from My higher things and discourages because you measure My activity by the wrong measures. Be assured. In all that you have laid before Me in prayer, I am at work. Steadily, progressively, I am providing all that is needed for My result. I am aware of your heart’s desires. Remember, I made you!  I made you to love, to care and want what you perceive as best. Yet in your best intentions you remain children and as yet, immature in your view. And I love you as you are! And I am calling you to My more.  Your measure of success is too small. Your measure of what’s important like the view of the ant. I love you in this. I love you massively, for you are My beloved children. And…I am calling you to increase your trust. Increase your reliance to Me. Your abandon.  Delight yourself in Me and rejoice in the work I have set before you this day. All work is good and I am working through it. All work is large. There is no measure of one type of work being supreme over another. Do it as if doing it for Me (because you are!) Lift up your heads. Put your eyes firmly on Me. Meditate on Me and let Me write My essence on your hearts.  I love them more than you do and I have not forgotten a single one. Do you not remember? I AM the Good Shepherd. I go after every lost sheep always. I do it My way in My timing. I am never late. I am working out My perfect plans which include all. Believe in Me! Rest in Me. Find your peace in Me even today—especially before you see results. REJOICE!

Carrying Christmas in Our Hearts into the New Year

Heavenly One, with eyes for all that goes on in this life, we know You see all that is not right and all that could be other than it already is. You lived in this world and understand it. We are here now too and it effects us sometimes in ways which simply press down and discourage. Heavenly One, our trust is in You and you are our hope. We choose to believe that according to Your promises You are using us through all things--both good and bad--to be Your love and reveal Your kingdom, to represent You so that together we can rejoice and individually more and more can find their way home. Lord, continue to encourage our hearts by Your Spirit. Illuminate the dark places and help us to be Your love. Lead us oh, Good Shepherd in the way we are to go and through it all we will praise Your name now and forever. Thank You for the privilege of being Your child. Thank You that You came. Thank You for the cross. Thank You for the hope of heaven and good, God-work now. We are Yours and celebrate Your majesty with the angels with resounding joy. In Jesus' name, Amen

The light from the Christmas tree is waning. This is not because the ability of the little colored bulbs to illuminate is fading but because a season is coming to an end. The season of Christmas in the part of the world where we live coincides with the time of year when light is least and darkness seemingly ever-increasing. More than a day when we give each other gifts or a week when we endeavor to spread kindness, Christmas is a season of remembering, contemplating, reflecting to grasp the deeper, temporal significance and eternal meaning, of quieting ourselves within during days which are darker and generally colder inviting us to be more inside than out. Personally it is also a time when I seek to take time off from jobs other preoccupations and simply look inward. Still before Him, He continues to reveal ever more layers of beauty—the beauty He is and the magnificence of His way.

For years, I have fought the end to this always-too-brief time of year. I want to continue to be at rest in Him, before Him and with Him, contemplating the solemnity of Christmas in abject awe—this commemoration which must be accompanied by grand celebration. I want to remain in the stillness with heart soaring upward in song and reverence, considering how it must have been for those who were there and what it means and how it is for those of us now. Christ-mas. Celebration of Christ. Feast of Christ (the meaning of the word ending “mas” in the English word Christmas).

However, even as we return more to the activity of our every-day which fills the rest of our year and the festival abates yet again for a while, we continue to carry Christmas forward in our hearts. Jesus was born. The angels declared it, the star announced it, the shepherds believed in the angels and their message and came to adore the Baby (who in that moment looked very un-kingly and showed no sign of any ability or authority to do anything for them). The men from the East came far at likely large personal expense to pay homage in faith.

Then they all went home. To their ordinary, everyday lives. It would be decades before the King of kings would reveal the Kingdom which He had brought with Him for all of us. They may have completed their lives here before there was any additional related news. Joseph and Mary of necessity became caught up in the everyday activity of raising the Son and obeying the Lord to protect and provide for Him, even not long thereafter fleeing into exile because to stay in their homeland was no longer safe for Him. Joseph and Mary did what was necessary day in and day out to provide a home for their family and to make sure there was shelter, food and clothing. It was work. It could have been considered monotonous. It was normal. It was blessed. They went back to the work of living in this world where there will always be work which must be done in order to survive and thrive. It is normal for us. It remains blessed.

The shepherds, wise men and Holy Family carried the hope of Christmas in their hearts. The Savior had been born. God would fulfill His promises.

That said, even the shepherds and wise men probably misunderstood God’s message. For generations they had prayed for the redemption of Israel. They sought to be a free self-governing people again—a nation under God. Even the prophets had declared what they understood was the promise the Lord would answer this prayer and restore the nation.

However, what the Lord God brought was so much more. Beyond their ability to recognize and understand, He was indeed that hope. However, instead of bringing temporary, faulty independent governments, He ushered in His government where we are to live by His Way (not because of laws but because of love, comprehension of Him and devotion to Him) and where death has been conquered.

The image of the grim reaper remains true. Life here continues to be temporary with no assurance of what our last day in this worldly existence for each of us will be. But death is no longer the end, but a door into the eternal existence with the Lord God for which He created us.

This is the reason He was and is our hope. We cannot change the nature of our current existence in terms of its temporal nature and the hardship, injustice and eventual death which are part of it. We can choose to let Him use us to have a good God-effect in the way He wants, when He wants on those around us. We can be a positive influence, a lamp shining His light of hope and an instrument of His love improving the circumstances during the time we are here, even while we keep in mind that this world and how it runs will not be permanently fixed by us. Here is not our destination. Here is merely where we are for such a time as this.

Joseph, Mary, the shepherds and wise men all had their time here—their season where they could choose to believe and follow Him to have His effect, to fulfill His God-purposes for them or not. Now it is our turn. Like each of them, we do not know how much time we will have.

Oh, the joy and never-ending celebration of heaven await! Yet, we do not want our time here to have been for naught.

We re-enter the season of ordinary everyday as we move past the season of Christmas for another 11 months. We carry Christmas in our hearts. God-willing our understanding of Him and relationship with Him is deeper than it was before we entered this special season just a few short weeks ago.

It is in the ordinary, everyday where Jesus did His best work. It is where He desires to use us.   He was the King of kings, born into virtual obscurity except for the few to whom the Father chose to reveal Him. He lived and walked and was known for such a short period of time by such a few people relative to the world population and yet, the power of His life!

Our lives will never match that of Jesus. That is neither the purpose nor the goal. Obedience is the goal. God made manifest in this world is the purpose so that more may find their way home for eternity. He loves each personal equally and desires each one to have the opportunity to know Him, choose Him and be built up by Him for His use for such a time as this and to be with Him in that place for which He created us forever. He wants to use you—where you are at this moment, in what may seem the monotony of your every-day as well as in those places in your life which are as yet still to come.

Do not lose sight of the Savior who lived in the everyday of His time just as you do. Continue to follow the Shepherd and you will be amazed as He reaches through you to touch the world. Receive His peace for He is with you and His purposes are greater than what the majority see or recognize. Live in His joy that in this life you will have many troubles, but the promise of the Faithful One whose initial coming we celebrate on Christmas day has also promised, “I have overcome the world.”

Be of strong and cheerful heart as we move into this New Year for by the presence and activity of His most Holy Spirit, at all times through all circumstances until we each are home with Him forever, Jesus remains Emmanuel, which means “God With Us”

Blessed 9th Day of Christmas and Happy New Year!

Not My Will But Yours

Magnificent One, how mighty You are with ways which exceed our comprehension. You have lifted our sight from that which is here and now to understand our true destiny in You for all eternity. We do not merit this gift and yet You offer it to us. You bless us here. You accompany us through every hard thing and yet we are merely journeying through. Master Shepherd, thank You for leading us through many valleys of the shadow of death, providing for us along the way and using all, all, all things for eventual good. Our trust is so great in You, that we delight to do Your will no matter what. Speak, Lord, Your servants are listening. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven. In Jesus' name Amen

Today begins the process of radioactive iodine treatment which doctors feel strongly is the next step in “cure” of the thyroid cancer discovered July 14th and surgically dealt with on August 13th. I am thankful the treatment exists, sorrowful the only conventional treatment option is to put a substance into my body on purpose that in and of itself can be cancer-causing (potential leukemia down the road), and disconcerted at the prospect of putting something so unhealthy into my body on purpose though the hoped-for outcome is better health.

I am one who does not treat the body un-healthfully on purpose. I exercise, avoid artificial sweetener, do not drink soda, eat sugar and drink coffee in moderation, avoid most junk food, use mostly whole grains, eat my vegetables and even make and drink fresh vegetable juice. When the birth of our second daughter was delayed two weeks beyond her due date, I was able to safely postpone the idea of induction until natural labor set in. For all three births of our children I was tremendously blessed to be able to give birth naturally with no drugs or IV at all. Bottom line, it is not my will to take anything radioactive on purpose! But it is the advice of my doctors of the next best course to ensure the cancer is gone and when I pray, the Lord is not telling me to refuse it.

Our lives are not our own. They have never been. This brings me back to Jesus and one critical aspect of the example He gave us. Though being equal with God the Father, He set aside His own will to fully do the will of the Father, meaning Jesus did not pursue His own ideas and plans, but looked to the Father, listened for HIS will and did it—even to death on the cross (and as I recall, this was so massively not His will, Jesus asked to be relieved of the task and sweat drops of blood due to anticipatory physical stress).

Not my will but Yours. This has to be my heart’s cry. I need to thank God for today and every blessing which will be in it. I need to thank Him that this procedure exists and for His perfect will for my life.

Nowhere does the Lord promise life in this world will be easy. Nowhere does He promise ongoing bliss instead of hardship. This world is not our home. With Him forever in heaven is. But here is our place of decision. Will we stop, turn and recognize our need for God and Jesus’ gift of reconciliation with Him? Will we let Him use us for His purpose to reveal Him to the world His way wherever this life takes us (both the places we are glad to go and those which cause us to cringe)?

I say, yes, Lord, yes. Have Your way! Is there anything better than to be used by God for His purposes? How could there be if He is really Most High?

Ultimately there can nothing better than the will of God for each of us. We cannot assure our own future. Death is coming. We are less than God. God as all-good Creator and Master of the Universe, who in His essence is love, has much better plans than we do. He must.  He has the power to take what the adversary means for evil in our lives and use it for great good with eternal effect if we will pick up our crosses and follow. When we follow our Master Shepherd, He uses us as His vessels through which His goodness flows, just as He did Jesus. He wants to be seen in this world. He generally does not choose to manifest miraculously in the sky. He chooses to use us. But that means a submission to His will with an inner quiet born of trust in Him. Jesus said not My will but Yours, Father, and through Jesus’ obedience the Father provided the way for all who desire it to be reunited with Him forever in the destiny for which He created us. Because Jesus laid down His own will, death is not the end, but a door to all which has been promised to those who choose to believe and follow.

None of us are Jesus, but we are each a part of His Body which He uses His way as an expression of the fullness of Himself to a weary, discouraged, despairing and dying world. None of us will live forever here. These bodies are not meant to last, so yes, I will do what I can to ensure my health, but no matter what I do with each passing day I am nearing His time when I leave this body behind and take my eternal place with Him and all those who have gone before. Only He knows when that day will be. Only He knows what lies in between. My hope is to believe that through all things if I keep my focus on Him and listening for His will and following where He leads that He will, will, will bring eventual good through it because this is His promise (and as One whose name is Truth, our Lord cannot lie).

Cancer is a potential aspect of life’s journey which was not on my to-do list. It is not something I am excited about. But I am excited about what my Lord can do through it—what He promises to do through all our challenges and battles. He promises to become known to more through them and along the way we are strengthened spiritually as well which increases our joy and His effect. There is goodness through the storm when we choose to keep our eyes on Him, seeking always to see His eternal perspective instead of our limited temporal one (even though some days it is hard to feel anything good, let alone comprehend it). As always we are returned to the choice to trust in Him especially when we cannot see and do not understand.

So, Lord, I confess a bad attitude about this procedure. Please forgive me. With renewed conviction I declare, dear Lord that my trust is in You alone. I cannot control any outcomes but You can. I ask dear Lord, that if it be Your will, this procedure indeed kill any remaining cancer so it can be said as the doctors described, that the cancer is cured. I ask also dear Lord that the radioactive iodine would not affect my body in a negative way which causes undesirable consequences down the road. But more than anything, Lord, I thank You for the gift of every day and Your perfect plan for my life. Thank You that You not only love us but give us good purpose every day of our lives until You ordain the day to bring us home. Thank You that with You nothing is wasted. Thank You for the promise of the life for which You created us after our physical death through the gift Jesus accomplished on the cross. Thank You for coming and giving us Your example. Lord God, I will keep my eyes on You and by Your power and grace You will help me to walk on top of the waves through all storms. The storms will be there but so will Your strength and grace to get through it until You call me home. Lord, my trust is in You. I lay down my will and say not my will, but Yours. You are all that I want and all that I need on this journey home. Thank You for never leaving me or forsaking me. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Thank you for all of you having been praying for me. May the Lord bless you and keep you and use you for great good through all life’s storms from here till eternity!

Note: in 2010 I composed, recorded and released a song on my first Christmas worship CD, “Christmas Worship” about the beauty and necessity of choosing to submit to the will of God focusing on the Christmas story as inspiration.  Here are the lyrics, which help me even today make my prayer to be in His will and not my own:

NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS music and lyrics by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro © 2010

1. Mary and Joseph knew You were God. Humbly they bowed, You are Lord. They trusted, they worshiped, gave up their lives. Not my will but Yours.

Chorus: Not my will, but Yours. Not my will but Yours. The manger, the cross, resurrection. Not my will but Yours.

2. Mary and Joseph far from home. No place to lay their heads. They trusted, they worshiped, laid down their lives. You led to Bethlehem.

Following Final Chorus: Now in my time of decision, will I choose my will or Yours? Yes, I lay down my life this Christmas, and say, “Not my will, but Yours.”

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isa. 26:3 NIV)

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. (John 6:38 NIV)

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” 38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Luke 1:35-38 NIV)

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome(1 John 5:3 NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Prov. 3:5-6 NIV)

Know That I Love You

Lord, there are seasons of winter where all seems dead & yet because of the rain & snow which come with the storms, You bring forth new life in the spring! Lord, use us. We are yours. Produce a harvest from our lives which grows Your Kingdom for Your glory!

PROPHETIC WORD

When the Holy Spirit “downloads” a word, it either will resonate with you or it will not.  No one prophetic word is for every person. But there are some for whom God had intended this.  I am human and imperfect.  Please always pray before you read and as you read. And this is my prayer for you: ”LORD, please lead each reader perfectly and cause them to receive and remember, only that which is from You for them.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.” ~ Elizabeth

I am the Lord.  I am Your God and I have been watching you.  I have seen how difficult it has been.  I have seen the struggles, the hardships which seem to never end, the temptations which some days seem to lurk around every corner, and yet know I am pleased with you.  You are My child and I love you.

Sometimes you might be tempted to think My love is dependent upon your choices.  Know that it is not.  I love you infinitely and unconditionally at all times. There is nothing you can do to increase My love for you, for My love already is. There is also nothing you can do to lose it.

Do you know My Son, Jesus?  I sent Him to earth to live and die for you. By My power, He also rose from the dead for you.  He paid the price.  I know you can never be perfect.  I created you, remember?  I created you to reveal My glory – that all would know the incomprehensible wonder that I am – so that they in turn would choose Me as Savior and Lord, so that we can be together again for eternity.

You see, that is the product of My love.  I made you in My own image, knowing you would not be perfect, knowing I would have to save you, providing the way back home to Me, because I wanted to demonstrate to you and for you the depths of My love.

I am the God of restoration. There is nothing so broken that it cannot be restored by Me.  I delight to restore!  How I rejoice to walk beside you in your restoration process.

Persevere. Though the path be rough, do not give up.  I will never leave you or forsake you.  I love you infinitely already, remember?

There are gifts for you from Me for each step forward you take.  Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow has enough worry of its own. Do not worry and do not fear.  There are those who can harm your body, but they cannot touch your destiny in Me and for Me.

Look to Me alone.  I will never leave you or forsake you.  I say it again, because I want you to never forget  the truth: I will never leave you or forsake you.  Remember the path of Jesus.  It was not easy either.  He encountered evil and was persecuted and oppressed.  Yet, through His suffering I brought great, eternal victory for many.  I can turn all things for eventual eternal good because I alone am GOD, Lord, Sovereign, King.  And I alone am good, filled with mercy and abounding in loving-kindness.

No matter how dark it may get here on earth, look to Me.  I am your Light in all darkness. Come to Me when you are weary and I will refresh you.  Lay your head on My lap, rest in Me and let Me carry your load.  These burdens were not meant for you.  You must walk them out, but I carry them (if you will let Me), just as I carry you.

Seek to hear My voice.  I am gentle, humble and all loving.  I do not condemn or reject, but invite, include and accept, so long as you choose Me and My way as Lord.  Seek to hear My voice and I will be Your Shepherd. Each moment of each day I will lead you in the way you are to go.  I will refresh you.  Seek Me and My way minute by minute, day by day.  Obey in the seemingly ordinary and seemingly illogical and I will pour My Spirit into you and through you that when people see you they will see Jesus Christ – not by your power, but by Mine.  For you were created to reveal My glory.

That is your job – to let Me shine through you wherever life takes you.  You are to reflect me as the moon reflects the sun on good days and bad, on hard days and delightfully easy ones.  Look to Me alone in all things and your joy will be complete. Trust Me and your days will be days for rejoicing because you will know I am with you and make all things new.  You will know I am with you and when you obey what you hear (for you will have learned to recognize My voice), it is then you also will experience the overflowing abundance of how I provide perfectly for you.

There are consequences to choices, but I am Victor over all of them and I can and will turn all things for good in light of eternity in the lives of those who love Me and follow Me.

Will you follow Me? Will you seek Me beyond anything else?  Will you let Me lead you through every moment of your day? I am the Lord who heals you.  I am the Lord who loves you.  I am the Lord who knows the way. Will you let Me use you on hard days and on good days?  Will you be the lamp carrying My light on dark days that others might see and know I am Lord?  I love them all – every one of them.  I want them all with Me forever, but first they must see Me in order to choose whether or not they will acknowledge Me and bow to Me and in so doing find their way home.  My heart aches until they are with Me even as it has ached for you.  Will you let Me use you in all your circumstances, in all your feelings of inadequacy to be My love to them, so they will see and know I am Lord?

I love you.  Never forget.  I love you as you are and you cannot lose My love. Simply turn to Me and keep on turning.  Come to Me daily and repeatedly in honesty and contrition. Come to Me and celebrate what I have done and will do!  I know it is not easy.  I will always forgive when you ask and what I wipe away is forgotten!  I always will heal you day by day by day.  I am your Refuge and strength.  In Me is your great and never-ending purpose.  In Me is mercy, love, abundance and rest.  Never forget, I will always love for you are My beloved child and I am well pleased with you.

Humbly written down as “heard”  by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2012, the evening March 13, 2012 when in response to a request I asked the Lord if He had a message for those in the Salvation Army’s rehabilitation program. PSALM 19 (Amplified)

1  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.

2 Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.

4 Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world.  Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun.

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; and it rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

6 Its going forth is from the end of the heavens, and it scircuit to the ends of it; and nothing [yes, no one] is hidden from the heat of it.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.

9 The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his lapses and errors?  Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.

13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

“The heavens declare the glory of God….”  Such a beautiful phrase!  And yet, what does it mean?

How do the heavens declare His glory?  What does it mean to us that day after day pours forth speech and night after night shows forth knowledge, that though the stars have no speech, their voice is heard in evidence through all the earth?

Just this: the heavens declare His glory, and the stars speak to us steadily without speech about God’s Way.  All creation willingly submits itself to the sovereignty of God because it must.  All creation exists in His peace, emanating His peace, for He moves freely throughout all of His creation, using it whatever way He wills because it is completely subject to Him.  Only humanity was created with free will, necessitating an ongoing, conscious choice, whether to submit to the will of God (while trusting Him and resting in Him thus revealing His glory) or attempting to run away from His will.

Is He our God or is He not?  If He is, then He is worthy of our trust.  If He is not, then only our will matters and we are in control.  But are we ever really in control, no matter what we decide?  What power do we really have as individuals?

Thus we come full circle back to creation as a picture of God and His Way.  Can we control the sun?  He does.  Can we cause the weather we want to come to pass?  He can.  Do we control earthquakes or hurricanes?  He does.

We must re-assess our view of ourselves in light of the rest of creation, remembering we are the created, not the Creator.  Like the heavens, our role is to display His glory, that more might know He is God: ambassadors and lamps to shine His Light for the brief generation in which He has placed us.

Every time we smile because we know He is with us, every time we reach out with compassion because we feel His Holy Spirit nudge, every time we choose to forgive because we call on Jesus and He gives us the strength we could not have on our own – in each of these circumstances and so many more we fulfill our life purpose every day because He is using us to reveal the glory of God.

We are blessed to let our lives declare His glory.  We are blessed that He is in control and we are not.  We can walk in constant peace which surpasses understanding and joy which is not determined by circumstances, but springs up from within because He is God.

Selah! [Pause and calmly think of that!]

We Pledge Allegiance to GOD

You hem us in before & behind and set the boundaries around us. Your Way and plan are perfect. We can rest and rejoice in You at all times for You are faithful!

PSALM 16 (NIV)

1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”  3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”  4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.  I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.  5 LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.  6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.  7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.  8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD.  With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faith one see decay.  11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Sometimes we need a reminder.  Our first allegiance is to God and nothing else.  When we pledge our allegiance to Him, and seek to walk out every moment His way, trusting He will enable exactly what is best in light of His eternal purposes, our hearts fill with His incomprehensible peace and joy and we can be at rest in Him in all circumstances.

Even in work we know is from and for God, we can become so pressed to carry the worry and responsibility for the “success” of these projects, that we forget God’s place in it all.  He is the refuge and apart from Him we have no good thing.  Our hearts can rest secure because He will enable that which He defines as success for the projects He has given us.  He counsels us and guides us, always ready to communicate with us, dropping thoughts and sensations into our minds and hearts which do not contradict His Way or His Word.  He sets boundary lines for us in pleasant places.  This means as the perfect parent (Abba, Father!), He goes before us, along with us and behind us, child-proofing any “doors” (directions) which look good to us, but He knows are not part of His perfect plan (and therefore would not be good).

God’s eyes are always on using all things to reveal who He is to those who don’t yet know Him, so they too can pledge allegiance to Him and let Him guide them in the pleasant way they are to go on earth (being used by God even in the difficulties which are an inherent part of this life).  His eyes are on us and His plan from here through eternity.

When our eyes are on Him, He helps us maintain His overview and perspective.  With His objectives in sight, nothing shakes us, we can rejoice and are always anchored in His peace.  Indeed He makes known to us the path of life, fills us with joy in His presence and eternal pleasures by His side.  What could be better?!

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that!]

You Are A Star!

In the darkness before the dawn, by Your Spirit You use us to light the way to You for others. Humbled, unworthy, listening and wanting to obey, we bow in awe.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

You are a star!  Yes, you!  Did you know it?  More important than any celebrity (the colloquial use of the word, ‘star’), you are a star for God.  At least, that is the way He desires to use you.

Everything in the natural gives us a picture of how things work in the invisible spiritual realm because God is constant.  The stars God created light up our night sky. For centuries they have been used by humanity for effective navigation, helping people to find their way.

To us our lives appear filled with natural light during the day and man-made light at night, thus illuminating the various ways we could go and enabling us to see possibilities and paths.  We think we have clear and complete vision.  But this is a deception.  What we can see with our physical vision only gives us a glimpse of the natural.  The supernatural, invisible spiritual realm exists concurrently with the natural realm which is most familiar to us because of our dependence upon our five natural senses.  In the spiritual realm there is darkness and light as well and there are different paths which lead in different directions.  Only one leads to God.

Jesus is described as the Light of the world.  John 1 describes Him beautifully: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  (John 1:1-5 NIV)

Jesus is the only One who comes into the spiritual darkness in which we find ourselves without Him and illuminates the Way we are to go because He is the Truth and thus the only Way to eternity with God.  He is the Life and in Him and through Him only is there life for us.  When we choose to see the Light He shines, showing the way to God, and we begin to follow where He leads, we become as lampposts shining His Light along the way for others.  He lives in us by His Spirit; we walk out the Truth of His way of living now and into eternity.  Others see His Way through His Light at work in our lives.  And because the world by nature is spiritually dark, but for the pinpoints of Light to be seen from those of use who shine Him, we become His stars.  When our focus is on following Him, His Light shines through us as navigational points to others who are looking for His hope, truth and how to follow.

Yes, we are stars every day wherever life takes us.  When we allow Him to use us in this way because we have chosen to follow Him and trust in Him at all costs, worshipping even when it doesn’t make sense, He is uses us for eternal effect.  (What glorious purpose!)

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence – continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good.14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life… (Philippians 2:12-16a NIV)
