Getting to Know HIM

The Creator of the universe is waiting to meet with us.

Getting to know someone takes time.  You can’t get to know him or her if you don’t spend time with him or her.   Generally to have a close relationship, this doesn’t just mean time spent together in a group, but time one on one where the individuals in the budding relationship can truly concentrate on listening to and sharing with one another.

It is the same for our relationship with God.  We can believe He is real, but we cannot place our trust in Him, rely on Him or follow Him if we are not taking the time to get to know Him.  Our Lord has very particular character traits and attributes.  He also makes us specific promises.  Do we know what they are?

Reading, contemplating and studying His Word is one of the main ways we can get to know Him.  Then as we take the time to worship what we have learned and communicate with Him in prayer – listening as well as talking – He confirms and grows our understanding.

It can be hard to take time to be with an invisible God.  So much urgent presses in around us at all times.  But if He is God, in control, possesses all power, has the only workable plan and all things are in His hands, isn’t He worth it?

“2 This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it – the LORD is his name: 3’Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'” (Jer. 33:2-3 NIV)
