Christmas Devotion and a Prayer–reflecting on how it was and how we are to be.
Silent night, holy night. All is calm….But was it? Regular life in Bethlehem had likely not ceased, but was processing and progressing around the Holy Family. Most, completely unaware than a miracle was underway.
God was coming tangibly and practically to us to show us His way and make the Way Himself. Completely. And it came to pass that Mary gave birth to a Son because it was the fullness of time. Angels palpated at His birth. Angels were dispatched to call those who were least to come and adore. To let them in on the Christmas secret while the rest of the world bustled along in its regular way without a clue that the Savior of the world had been born in Bethlehem.
Here is a song called “Yet From the Manger Bed” (original Christmas worship remembering how it was for Jesus) and a Christmas time prayer:
PRAYER: Holy, holy, Lord, please help us not to miss You in our everyday. Please help us not to be consumed by our focus on here and now. Please be over us and surround us so that in our here and now, we are reminded at all times that this is a moment to live for you on earth as in heaven because Jesus came and ushered in Your kingdom. Teach us to live You way. The way of love which is different from the squishy, fluffy love to which most of us are accustomed here. Teach us how to hear Your Spirit, take courage and follow. Help us to know better how to live lives which are worshiping You at all times. In our heart of hearts. And in how we let Your Spirit flow through You in Spirit-inspired and empowered acts to a hungry and thirsty world. Thank You for coming. Thank You for showing us how to live and how to die. Thank You for rising so we can follow. Thank You for Spirit so here we are not alone. Thank You for Your promise to lead us and use us for Your purposes now until You take us home. And that someday which only You know, the end will come and we will all be reunited in heaven the way You always intended. So delightful to be Your child! Thank you! Thank You, LOVE! In the name of Father, Son and Spirit amen! ❤🎶🌲🔥👑
