Oct 22 to Jan 6 reflections from an upcoming book for tending hurting hearts at Christmas
Whatever is going on, a question pushes until it bursts forth: how could God allow this? The example and answer is Jesus, though this answer is not easy and at first perhaps does not provide rest for your soul because God’s will for Him (in whom all answers lie) led to a cross.
This was not because Father hated Jesus. (They are inseparably one.) Or because He wanted less for Him, but because He chose Jesus with whom to partner for execution of His greater, greatest plan.
This is true love! A love so difficult for us to understand, which was released through a type of power which at the time probably felt like no power at all. A King who conquers hearts and not countries. By revelation to these hearts which prompts a free-will abandonment to Him and His way versus any other way of life. A King who let evil have its way temporarily with what looked like finality because this King knew He would turn all things on their head. Not eliminating the evil effect but using it for His purposes. This is why the birth of Jesus had to look differently than people expected, too. It all did. Each aspect of Jesus’ life was not focused on creature comforts or making sure He had a measure of blessing due Him as faulty, foolish human wisdom measures blessing. Instead by how His life was, Jesus reveals to us the way of God.
The way to which we are invited. Beckoned. Exhorted. To become an out-working of God’s authentic love. The only true love, which is not a love which can love well on its own. Spirit’s guidance is needed.
By the way Jesus came we begin to understand His priorities and where He places value. In this is balm, bliss and freedom from other lesser standards. Like Jesus, all we have to do is let God cultivate in us His own heart-view and ability to discern His voice while carrying the cross He has allowed to be set before us. We just need to follow Him.
God works through all things. God works through all things!
He is ever-present. Ever leading. Ever-hope. Understanding the enemy’s heinous strategies and working through these in ways we can see and not see. Our hope and trust are in Him and this causes our joy to be complete. Suffering no longer surprises. We ask God to use it as He did the cross. We ask for an awareness for what Spirit wants us to do next and for whom. Jesus was the conduit of God-love and truth, justice and love (which is mercy) to the world. Oh, that God would use each of us fully in this way during this time that He has given us even through all hard, unwanted circumstances.
You came in love. As an Infant, You already knew Your destiny had been with God in the beginning. Yes, in the beginning You were already with God and You were God. What was an event of newness to the world! A surprise and suddenly long-awaited yet still mostly unrecognized, Your arrival was! You, the King, who knew exactly why You had come. You the already victorious One who’s coming was exactly in Your own perfect timing. You were not surprised to be born into poverty or that You would be driven unjustly by evil to the cross. You knew all in advance and still You came. For love. For me. For them. For all. Bliss-filed, blessed Christmas! Hallelu Yahweh! (All praise be to the Lord God!)
2 Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.
3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.
4 But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
