How is your heart in this unexpected season? Tired? Weary? Feeling a bit beaten up? Come to the water. Come have a drink. The Holy Spirit is described as the water of life. Jesus says that if you believe in Him, rivers of living water will flow continuously up and through you. Imagine that. Thirst quenched. Inner peace. Even joy.
Scripture also describes a river of the water of life flowing down from the throne of God. Imagine it. A spiritual river there pouring invisibly but ever-present into our midst now. There for you to tap into at any time, by turning and keeping your eyes on Jesus.
When we think about Him instead of something else, its like we are looking at Him. And as we do it is as if we can consider everything about Him and are available for Him to even teach us something new. Something which comforts or consoles. Something which feeds us or encourages. Even galvanizes us or gives us courage. Something which re-focuses our priorities and understanding so we are no longer so pushed down upon by what is going on temporarily all around us.
The songs I write and record are musical prayers. If you find one you like and listen again and again, its like you connect with this river of the Holy Spirit coming from heaven and you feel better. God’s actual presence touching you while you “soak” in the Holy Spirit river.
Feeling dry, discouraged, lifeless. Give this link a try. The song: RIVER: https://youtu.be/6bpEDjCYiJs The lyrics are intentionally simple. They point you to God, but the goal is to connect with Him and to simply be in His presence. Imagine. The presence of the Living God who wants to meet with you. Let His peace wash over you as you consider who He is and what He promises and let Him–take you away to Himself through the music–for this moment.
38 He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.39 But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor). John 7:38-39 (AMPCE).
