LORD, as Isaac approaches land, we continue to pray, united in heart and bowed before You as the only One who can. You are sovereign and all power is in Your hands. Thank You, that this storm is not Katrina and that it the winds have not risen to higher velocity. Yet, we still know we need Your help! Minimize physical damage, heal up the broken-hearted and bring Your hope to replace fear. Protect those impacted and protect those supplying emergency services.
Let hope, mercy, love, the promise of forgiveness, new life, purpose and Your infinite care be that which rises up from the areas impacted by Isaac. Let the winds diminish and the stories of Your grace, mercy and provision rise up from these areas and be carried forth on the winds.
Lord God, station angels at the gateways to the Gulf Coast and New Orleans. Let the winds go below hurricane force much faster than humans have predicted. Let the ease up more quickly. Let the damage be less. We ask and at the same time we trust in Your answer – what You have done, are doing and will still do.
Continue to wake up the people of this nation and the world, that we need to be vigilent and diligent to build up the levees and walls around our hearts, churches and communities which are built with Your values, so that the spiritual enemy no longer be able to come in like a flood and destroy us.
Lord God, reduce Isaac to less than a hurricane and send instead the wind of Your Holy Spirit up through New Orleans and into every nook and cranny of this continent in new and marvelous ways that all would know You are God. Lord God in Isa. 65 You say You have been ready to embrace those who do not call to You or seek You if only we would stop looking to everything except You and Your way as the answer to all we seek. We confess that we have not honored You as our Way, Truth, Life, Provider and Protector. We confess that we have looked elsewhere. But now, see how we want to know You as God and look only to You as the solution to all!
Lord God, be as unrelenting as a hurricane bearing down on the path which causes us to look up, see You and find our true destiny as individuals and a nation.
Lord God, thank You for how You will answer our prayers to protect the innocent and provide for the poor, making sure they are not destroyed through this storm. Provide clean water for them to drink physically instead of flood waters which mold and destroy. In the same measure, provide the Living Water of Your Spirit that we may all be revived and see that You are here with us even now and embrace your Way.
Thank You for how You will show Yourself merciful on this 7th anniversary of the storm with brought only death and destruction with it. Thank You again that this storm is not Katrina. Continue to be with us and provide according to Your promises. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. We look only to You! You will not fail. You are our Trust and our Hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen
