Life’s purpose is to worship God and give Him glory by reflecting Him as the moon reflects the sun.
Once we are blessed with this understanding it changes the way we look at everything else.
Authentic worship of God bubbles up spontaneously like a fountain following the realization that we need Him, that we are not the most supreme beings ourselves. There is something greater (and it is He). Because we understand His superiority, we bow to Him. We want His Way since it must be better than our own. He promises He will speak to us and lead us, if we will seek it. And we finally choose to believe it and begin to listen….
Our lives will never be the same. Suddenly He showers us with the gifts of exquisite, incomprehensible, unimagined freedom, sustaining joy and deep abiding peace, which He has wanted to give us all along as we bow to Him. But we were not ready to receive them before.
Now in the moment we recognize Him as the Savior we need and the only One worthy of being our Lord (Master/Boss) and the blessings come poured out. We run to Him, excited to be His followers instead of trying to lead ourselves. No longer are we carriers of every decision in our life. He is the One with the plan. It is not hard to give up our will for His. For we recognize that the priorities we have chased seeking purpose fall flat in the knowledge of His greater, supreme purposes.
Our burdens are laid down at His feet. We can dance in lightness and freedom before Him, delighting in His revelations for our heart and His instructions for our day. We don’t have to think too far ahead, for He is the Father and we His children. Our job is to listen and follow, trusting He will never let us down.
And as we gaze at Him, seeking to know more, asking Him to impart His will in a way we understand, committed to walking it out the best way that we can, the Living Water of the Holy Spirit comes down from the heavenly throne room in a river and flows through us providing His spiritual water for all those who thirst around us.
In time He will open their eyes to Him (they will see His glory!) for there is no natural, secular, unspiritual explanation for what they see in us. We remain devoted to Him, relying on Him alone. And as the moon reflects the sun because it is facing it, God uses us as the reflection of His Son – not by our effort, but by His power and our unabashed willingness to be used.
Such life purpose is not relegated by a particular job or position. He desires to use every single person, every single day to reflect Him. There is no exception.
Lord, help us to see You for who You are, that we might bow in unmitigated, unceasing awe, submit to Your will and be Your vessel for Your purposes for Your glory. For in Your purpose is our purpose and it is our delight. In Jesus’ name, Amen
12So that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory! (Amplified)
Selah! [Pause & calmly think of that!]
