The Reason Jesus Sent His Spirit

Come Holy Spirit and renew the face of the earth. You are all that we want and all that we need.

When in worship we cry “more God”, when in intercession we ask Him to bring revival and renew the face of the earth, we must be clear about that for which we ask.

His promises of protection and provision are ours and He will fulfill them (He must!)  But many times these needs mistakenly become our focus.  We cry more of God because we need physical healing.  We cry more of God because we are worried about our finances and need Him to intervene.  We cry more of God because we are worried about a loved one.  But let’s be clear.  Neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit was sent to permanently erase worldly woes.  This remains earth.  Only in heaven will the hardship go away – when we enter into the promised reward which we receive when our days of service on earth are done.

Jesus was sent for the singular purpose of opening the way back to the Father by redeeming the world through the perfect sacrifice of His death on the cross.  In so doing, He did only what He saw the Father doing.  In so doing, He gave us the perfect representation of the Father, showing us God’s way of love.  In so doing, His Light lit the path for us to follow Him home.

We are called to follow in Jesus’ footsteps: to only do what we see and hear the Father doing.  In this way to walk the way of Jesus (the way of love) according to His plan, thus being His ambassadors in a foreign land – lamps which carry His Light, enabling Him to light up the path back to eternity with the Father (our destiny!) for those around us.  We cannot do this on our own, thus when Jesus returned to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit – His Spirit, the Father’s Spirit which no one can see but whom believers know and hear because He dwells in us.

The Holy Spirit was not sent to supernaturally provide earthly riches or heal all physical diseases forever.  He was sent to work through us to testify regarding the Father, so more would find their way home.  John 16:26 (Amplified) states: “But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He [Himself] will testify regarding Me.”  The Holy Spirit is just that: Spirit.  He guides us to use our voice, our hands and our reflection of His godly attitudes in our circumstances to reveal the truth of the invisible God to a dying world.

As we pray for a new Pentecost, for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the earth and unite His Body, we must remember the Spirit was sent to enable the spiritual harvest for God’s eternal kingdom.  The Spirit is not concerned with earthly goals.  We need to embrace His mission as did the first disciples.

When Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples did not go back to the lives thay had before they knew Him where their focus was on securing provision and safety for their physical lives.  In obedience which sprang forth from faith and trust, they gathered in the Upper Room of one mind and heart, waiting together as Jesus had instructed and devoted to persevering in prayer until His promise to send the Holy Spirit was fulfilled (even though it is likely they did not fully grasp what this meant.)  Then from the moment the Holy Spirit was poured out on them at Pentecost, they lived only to be a testimony for God.  They received God’s heart for their own, placed full priority on walking out His will, their focus on worldly wealth/success and/or protecting their physical lives gone.  Instead they focused on sharing the only true wealth wherever they could:  the Wisdom, the Truth of God that physical death would no longer be the end (but the beginning) for as many as would hear, draw near and accept the message.

When God blesses us with revival, when He gives us the “more” we seek, He indeed will enable a way for us to be provided for perfectly for the rest of our earthly lives.  (And what He provides will be sufficient for what He calls us to do.)  But this will not and cannot be our focus if we truly believe in Him. Our focus must be to worship Him in all circumstances and through our trust in Him, allow Him (by His Spirit) to work in all our circumstances to reveal Himself and the Kingdom.  In this way we become the branches attached to the Vine which bear His fruit for the harvest – the purpose of Pentecost is fulfilled.

Lord God, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven.  Come, Holy Spirit.  Come.  Come with more.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Acts 26:13-18 (Amplified)

13 When on the road at midday, O king, I saw a light from heaven
surpassing the brightness of the sun, flashing about me and those who were
traveling with me.

14 And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice in the
Hebrew tongue saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you continue to persecute Me [to harass and trouble and molest Me]? It is dangerous and turns out badly for you to keep kicking against the goads [to keep offering vain and perilous resistance].

15 And I said, Who are You, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus, Whom
you are persecuting.

16 But arise and stand upon your feet; for I have appeared to you for
this purpose, that I might appoint you to serve as [My] minister and to bear
witness both to what you have seen of Me and to that in which I appear to you,

17 Choosing you out [selecting you for Myself [and delivering you from among this [Jewish] people and the Gentiles to whom I am sending you – [Ezek. 2:1, 3.]

18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and
from the power of Satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are
consecrated and purified by faith in Me. [Isa. 42:7,16.]

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that!]

Prophetic Word ~ My Love Never Fails

Lord, our lives are but a moment, yet You love us infinitely and forever. We bow in awe. We choose You as Lord, glory in You alone and rest in Your love all our days.

My child, I have been watching you.  I am always watching you and it is good.  You have been working very hard trying to be faithful to what I have given you to do.  All your effort because of your love for Me, makes me smile.  I delight in you!

But you need to know it is not your hard work and sacrifice which causes my delight.  I delight in you merely because you are!

I know all your weaknesses and short-comings.  I am aware every time you fail and fall short.  But this does not change my unequivocal, supernatural, infinite love for you.  It is not about what you do, but who you are.

My love is not to be compared with the love one human being has for another.  Human love gives an inkling of what my love is about, but my love is so much greater and beyond what you can imagine, words fail to express the height, depth and breadth of it.  My love is all encompassing.  My love is who I am.  I cannot be separated from My love for you.  My love is not dependent upon your response.  It simply is.

I cannot be understood without understanding my boundless, merciful love.  My love is patient.  My love is unwavering, never-ending and unchanging.  I will wait your entire life, longing for you, waiting for you to love Me back.  And even if in the end you decide you still don’t love Me, My love for you will remain.

My love is kind.  I cannot do anything unkind to you because it is contrary to My very nature.

I do not envy, for there is no reason.  I am all in all and everything.  I am above all things and in Me all things live and move and have their being.  There is nothing I want which I do not have except at times your heart and there is nothing better than the way I have caused things to be.

I do not boast, nor am I proud, for I simply AM.

Because I am love, I will always treat you with dignity and respect.  You are of infinite value to Me.  You are so important to me in My love, that all I do is for You.

Through Jesus and My mercy, I am continually pouring Myself out for your sake, and seek nothing for myself but the hope of Your love and respect (and adoration) in return.  Mercy is the first fruit of My love.  I understand who you are and of what you are capable (both good and bad) because I made you.

I know how young or mature you are in your spiritual walk and what you have yet to learn and so in My love I do not anger easily, though just like I created gravity so what goes up must come down, there are consequences to the choices you make.

Though you will not always choose My way, and I know every wrong you have committed against me, the moment you come to me and ask forgiveness, as far as the east is from the west (infinite distance!), so far are these sins removed and all forgotten.  I will no longer hold any of the things you have done against you. I have washed you clean.  You are purified.  You are mine.

My heart aches whenever you chose those ways which will take you further from Me, even though I will always respect your free-will choice.  I will work things out for as long as your physical life lasts so that always, always you have yet another opportunity to choose My way.

I am love, but I am also truth and there is no other.  I know that the fullness of joy which I desire to pour into you – the deep life satisfaction and fulfillment – is only in My way.  My heart is that you would find it.  It is never My desire that you fail.  I am beside you always.

When you choose Me, then I can come even closer and in My love enable the complete covering of protection and provision for You which is My deepest desire.

My love will never stop.  I believe in you because I know how capable I made you.  I will always be here for you, whenever you decide to turn and seek.

And when we are One, My love will overflow through you and My joy and yours will be complete, no matter what, forever.

Embracing the Journey Home

We delight in Your grace-filled leading as You take our hand and guide us through life's seasons. Gentle Jesus, You accompany us along every step and never let us go as You walk us to eternity.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

29The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their gray head [suggesting wisdom and experience].        PROV. 20:29 (Amplified)

In 1546 renowed German artist, Lucas Cranach painted a picture called, “The Fountain of Youth” depicting a large outdoor bath where people who entered the waters would be restored to youth.  There is a legend that Spanish conquistador, Ponce de León came to Florida searching for a fountain of youth.

Almost 500 years have passed and nothing has changed.  Most of the population in North America continues to fear aging and death and searchs for any solution which will preserve youth and lengthen life.  We don’t want to even look older, using dyes and formulas to postpone for as long as possible the time when our aging will show via grayer hair.  We consult surgeons, go on exercise programs and try new cremes all with the objective of preserving youth.

This is not God’s way.  God asks us to steward our bodies – to take good care of them so we can do the work He has for us so long as He ordains for us to live in the body.  But our focus was never to be preservation of that which was not meant to be preserved.

Though God delights to heal us when we ask Him, it is still only for a season.  Every person that Jesus miraculously healed physically has long since died.  With God it is all about the utterly complete healing of the heart – not for a moment, but for eternity!

Our physical lives here are but a breathe when considered in light of the eternity of eternities to which God invites us where we will live in unimaginably close, deep fellowship with Him.  We were never meant to be here in our physical bodies forever.  God loves us too much to give us immortality here.

For every person there is a time and a season for living and a time and a season for dying.  Only God knows the hour of our pre-ordained birth, has the plan for our lives and already has set the moment for our going home.

Yes, our GOING HOME.  This life is not our home.  Despite all its goodness and the manna He provides to get us through, this is our exile.  It is our place of wandering in the wilderness (as the Israelites did) until we find His way.  Once we discover Jesus is the only One who can lead us home and begin to follow Him, then life here becomes our assignment, guided by the Holy Spirit.  Our home is with the Father and the Son in heaven, where there is no pain, illness, or sorrow and where our mortal bodies will be replaced with glorified perfect ones.  For now we are ambassadors for the Kingdom of God living in a foreign land.  We miss (and grieve for!) the temporary absence from our lives of every person who proceeds us into eterntiy, but until it is our turn we are on assignment.

We are exhorted to be in the world, but not of the world.  The adversary rules the air here; he is the prince of this world. This is due to the choice of Adam and Eve, who chose to follow Satan’s advice over God’s instruction. God allows the entire family of humanity to live with the consequences of our ancestral parents’ choice.  Yet He uses these consequences for eventual good.  He uses them to give us clear choice.

God is sovereign; His Kingdom is here now.  Jesus declared it.  But He waits for our free will choice to join His Kingdom forces instead of continuing to follow the way of the world, which is not His.  He will not overrride our free will.  He only wants us in His Kingdom if it is His Kingdom we want.

We need to gain a new perspective.  We need to stop wasting so much time and worry trying to stop the everyday, year by year external changes which are inherent to our physical existence.  Since our birth there has not been one day we physically have stayed the same as we were the day before.  Why do we spend so much valuable energy trying to “stop the clock”.  Yes, life is precious here.  No, we do not want to pass from this life to the next even an instant earlier than God Himself ordains.

We need to embrace the journey and see it as such.  We are on our way.  We are on our way back home.

This does not mean we shouldn’t dye our hair or go to the gym.  It is the motive with which we do these things, which is of significance.

It is time to stop viewing physical death as an end and see it instead as the doorway God created it to be.  It is the passing from this life to the next.  It is a moving from the good world God made in which we are to live out our physical lives into the indescribably great world of His Kingdom in heaven.

Life is a continuum from here to eternity.  Physical death is not the end, so long as we are following Jesus. This is God’s promise.  This is an element of the infinite joy of the Lord, which is His gift to us.  We can live free of fear of death, because “death has lost its sting” and has been “swallowed up” by Jesus’ victory.  It is one of the most basic tenets of our faith: Jesus’ death on the cross conquered death once and for all, opening the way to reunion with the Father in heaven for each of us who choose to follow Jesus.  We are no longer condemned to a life which ends in death.

Through faith in what He has done and all His promises, we become God’s ambassadors.   We understand we are free from the threat of the finality of death and no longer fear it.We understand He is protector and provider until the day He calls us home, so we lay worry aside.  Our lives look different because of what we now know.  His peace and joy bubble up from within us because of increased understanding of the journey of life in which we find ourselves.   But if we do not receive His promises as truth, if our outlook on life does not change as a result of finding Him as Savior and following Him as Lord, then we will have failed in our mission as Kingdom ambassadors, because our lives will not bear witness to Him and the difference of His Way.

He knows the perfect balance for each of us.  He knows what each of us needs to do in order to steward our bodies to be as strong and healthy as He requires in order for us to do the work He has for us until He calls us home.  His Spirit is the witness to His will, constantly whispering guidance to us, if we will listen.

We need a new attitude.  We need to rejoice in every grey hair and wrinkle.  It is a sign we have lived.  It is a badge of honor that our work is not yet done and He is allowing us to continue, though we are one day closer to eternity with the King of kings.

Let us embrace the good work of each day which He gives us to reflect His kingdom.  Let us be at peace (in His peace) with the journey and the signs of the journey, which in His perfect timing will lead us home.

1 Cor. 15: 51-57 (Amplified)

51Take notice! I tell you a mystery (a secret truth, an event decreed by the hidden purpose or counsel of God). We shall not all fall asleep [in death], but we shall all be changed (transformed)

52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed).

53For this perishable [part of us] must put on the imperishable [nature], and this mortal [part of us, this nature that is capable of dying] must put on immortality (freedom from death).

54And when this perishable puts on the imperishable and this that was capable of dying puts on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly vanquished forever) in and unto victory.

55O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?

56Now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power [i][upon the soul] through [j][the abuse of] the Law.

57But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.

ECC. 3:1-14 (Amplified)

1TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:

2A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,

3A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,

4A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

6A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,

7A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,

8A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

9What profit remains for the worker from his toil?

10I have seen the painful labor and exertion and miserable business which God has given to the sons of men with which to exercise and busy themselves.

11He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

12I know that there is nothing better for them than to be glad and to get and do good as long as they live;

13And also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor–it is the gift of God.

14I know that whatever God does, it endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor anything taken from it. And God does it so that men will [reverently] fear Him [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is].

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that!]

Known By God

Lord, where no one sees You use us to bring Your harvest for Your glory. We delight in Your way.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

Col. 3:23-24 (NIV)   23  Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Do you ever catch yourself waiting to see if someone you esteem or who is in leadership notices you?  Are you ever tempted to think if you could gain a particular person’s approval, you would feel better about yourself and maybe you would be moved into the position you believe you deserve?

It seems as if most of us are born wanting to be known and acknowledged.  We want to be recognized, noticed.  Somehow we believe that if others just saw what we are doing or the kind of person we are, that we would get the credit we believe we are due and it also would boost how we see ourselves.  We would be validated.  We would be visible.  We would be recognized for the difference we make.  It would matter that we exist.

And yet, looking for approval from others can be risky business to our emotional state and dangerous to our walk with God.

No individual will ever be able to give any of us enough recognition, attention, affirmation at all the right times to cause us to feel consistently valued, worthwhile and appreciated.  All persons from whom we seek recognition are only human themselves. They have the same need.  None of us were created to be everything any other person needed, for we were all created to find our true, authentic, ongoing, never-ending, life-long value in the eyes of God.

He is the One who made us.  He is the One who has put each of us in our place.  He knows what strengths and weaknesses we have from the world’s perspective.  He also knows that His ways are supremely higher and better than the ways of humanity (without God’s direction).  He loves us infinitely just as we are.  Through Him we have infinite value.  He knows how He created us and how He desires to use us for His purposes, no matter what others would think or say.  Only through His eyes can we consistently be comforted and encouraged of our incalculable worth.

Valuing ourselves as we are seen through the eyes of others sets us up for deep disappointment and is not God’s way.  Remember, as Christians we are called to live (walk through our days) as Jesus did.  Jesus worked only for the approval of the Father and in fact, only did what the Father told Him to do.  He understood the Father’s supreme place in His life (even though He was an equal member of the three-in-one Godhead of the Trinity) and thus set aside His own will, to always do the will of the Father, recognizing His role was to make the invisible Father visible while Jesus lived out His physical life.  This is our role as well.

John 8:54 (Amplified)     Jesus answered, If I were to glorify Myself (magnify, praise and honor Myself), I would have no real glory, for My glory would be nothing and worthless.  [My honor must come to Me from My Father.] It is My Father Who glorifies Me [Who extols Me, magnifies, and praises Me], of Whom you say that He is your God.

John 14:10 (Amplified)  Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?  What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).

John 14:23-24 (Amplified)   23  Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

24 Anyone who does  not [really] love Me does not observe and obey My teaching.  And the teaching which you hear and heed is not Mine, but [comes] from the Father Who sent Me.

1 John 2:1 (Amplified) ……..[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father’s will in every purpose, thought, and action].

If we are worried about what others think or tempted to do things in order to be noticed by someone, we are not trusting God to do and be who He says He is. He is all-powerful; He opens doors no man can shut and shuts doors no man can open; He is the only One with the supreme plan and the ability to execute it.  When we are focused on being recognized by individuals, we are not turning to God as our answer.  Whatever He has said He will do, He will do. And He will do it His way, in His timing, for His glory.  When we seek the approval of people it undeniably inhibits our ability to hear and walk out God’s will.

If we are not in God’s will there will be no life satisfaction.  If we are not in God’s will, He cannot protect and provide for us in the same way (because we have chosen to walk away from Him and not with Him).  If we are not in God’s will, we have missed the purpose for our lives.

Jesus is our example.  Certainly Jesus did not look for acknowledgment, affirmation or accolades from the leaders in His day.  Only the contray, they criticized and condemned Him, looking for an excuse to execute Him.

There is joy in looking to be noticed by God alone.  There is great inner peace, fulfillment and unmitigated blessing.  “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be cone, on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Matt 6:9b-10 NIV)

Phili. 2:1-11  (NIV)  1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and one in mind.  3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.  5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset at Christ Jesus:  6 Who, being the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!  9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Matt. 6:1-6  (Amplified)  1 Take care not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward [reserved for and awaiting you] with and from your Father Who is in heaven.

2 Thus, whenever you give to the poor, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites in the synagogues and in the streets like to do, that they may be recognized and honored and praised by men.  Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already.

3 But when you give to charity, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4 So that your deeds of charity may be in secret; and your Father Who sees in secret will reward you openly.

5 Also when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by people.  Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already.

6 But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open.

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that.]

Sunday is a divine pause to worship our King and reflect upon His majesty.  Our worship is our gift to Him for we turn focus from us and onto God.  And yet we are the ones blessed in the process for as we worship He writes His Truth upon our hearts, which fills us with His peace, hope and joy and causes us to be able to stand strong in all circumstances because we have learned who He is.  The Psalm selection below is one of what are called the “songs of ascent”, which the Israelites would sing as the climbed the mountain to go and worship God as He instructed.  We still ascend when we worship, but now spiritually by the power of His Spirit entering His throne room every time we choose to worship and praise Him.  As a result, He fills us with His presence and power, thereby strengthening us for the battles which invariably come.  It is God who is our strength;  He is our shield.  We only need to worship, seek to hear His voice and obey, then watch how He will use all things for eventual good.  What a mighty God we serve!  ~ Elizabeth

PSALM 25:1-15 (Amplified)

1 Unto You, O Lord, do I bring my life.

2 O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You.  Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.

3 Yes, let none  who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause.

4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.

5 Guide me in Your truth and wait hopefully and look for You to be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause.

6 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercy and loving-kindness; for they have been ever from old.

7 Remember not the sins (the lapses and frailties) of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your mercy and steadfast love remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way.

9 He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

11 For Your name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity and my guild, for [they are] great.

12 Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord?  Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.

13 He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land.

14 The secret [of sweet, satisfying compaionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.

15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will pluck my feet out the net.

WORSHIP SONG

ASCEND IN WORSHIP~song & lyrics by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2006

1) I am seated with Christ in the heavenlies

I will not be afraid

You are greater than he who comes against me

Mighty Warrior King.

2) I enter Your gates with thanksgiving,

Your courtyards with my praise

You are mercy, love and forgiveness.

I adore You all my days.

Chorus

I ascend in worship, ascend in worship, ascend in worship, descend in battle

Ascend in worship, ascend in worship, ascend

For Your glory, Victor and King

3) I boldly enter Your throne room; rejoice with the angels in You

My Refuge, Fortress, High Tower

I put my trust in You.

(Chorus)

WORSHIP PRAYER ~

How great are You, God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  You are Creator of all things seens and unseen, Ruler of heaven and earth, all good and all love.  You know how we are made and put a plan in motion to redeem us from our fallen state and invite us to be with You forever. You were the plan in the name of Jesus and You have brought the plan to completion.   The vistory is already won.  All who seek You will find You and You will care for each one of us as a shepherd cares for each of his sheep.  You lead us; You provide for us; You protect us until the day when we leave this physical life and pass into life forever with You in heaven.  You ask two things of us – that we acknowledge our need for You as Savior (and worship You) and bow to You as Lord (commit to follow where You lead instead of asking for You to follow and bless where we lead).  You desire to be known as God that You are.  And so today we come before You and acknowledge that we cannot get beyond physical death without You.  We are in control of nothing.  We cannot redeem ourselves for we are not perfect, nor will we ever be.  You are the greatest, most magnificent and all-powerful One.  You are the only One who is worthy of honor and glory (credit for all You have done).  We bow before You as Most High and pledge our allegiance to You.  We only want Your plan and Your way.  We trust in You and know that as Truth You cannot lie.  What You have said you will do, You will do and so we choose to rest in You because You will always care for us.  We commit not to worry, but to rejoice in all things.  We can do this because You have already won the victory, conquering the adversary for eternity and You promise to use all things for good in the lives of those who are called according to Your purpose.  We give You high praise.  We rejoice in Your way.  We choose to follow and not to seek to lead.  We give You our hearts and our lives because You are.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

END
Note to ASCENDING IN WORSHIP on Sundays: I have always loved music and worship music, but have not always understood worship.  For many years it was just a word used to describe church service or a type of music.  But that changed radically in Feb. 2004 when friends prayed over me to start hearing (thus composing) new songs from heaven.  (Since their prayers I have composed over 350 worship songs and recorded more than 60.)  Then in Feb. 2005 the Lord gave me a vision which implied worship changes things.  I needed to understand what the vision meant.  I needed to understand His way.  After months spent in Scripture studying everything I could find about worship, it became clear that indeed God promises to respond to our worship with a release of His power, which changes things.  Thus worship is not a song, service, drum beat or lifting of hands (though all of these things with a worshipful mindset can be worship).  Worship is an attitude of heart which adores God in the majesty and sovereignty of who He is in our lives at all times.  Worship is the ultimate expression of our trust in Him, because we choose to spend precious time contemplating the awesome wonder of all He is, without the need to ask Him for anything.  It expresses to God we can abandon ourselves to worship Him because we trust He already has everything else handled – that which we can see and which we can’t.

Worship is not a Sunday activity, but a lifestyle.  However, Sunday is the traditional day within most Christian circles to take a pause from our work which helps refresh us and honors God as our ultimate provider and protector from whom all good things come.  Worship honors Him and strengthens us in Him.

On Sundays, to facilitate this “pause” before God, NUGGETS OF GOD’S WISDOM features Scripture and song lyrics to assist in laying down everything that burdens us and constrains the mind, to enter into blissful, restorative worship of the only One who can which writes His promises on our hearts.

To God be the glory forever and ever!

God’s Glorious Everyday Purpose for Us

In You we have life, purpose, fulfillment, joy, freedom and great inner peace. You are our all in all and everything. Life is all about You!

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

It is so easy to get caught up in the secular, physical world around us.  And yet, God’s way is so far superior.  Every day He is calling to us, inquiring if we will succumb to the secular viewpoint, or look up and grasp His.  Sometimes it is helpful to pause to be reminded of some of the clear differences between the two.

This world is passing away.  We are passing away.  We are only too aware we will not live forever.

And yet, God has always been and always will be.  He invites us to be His adopted children who live forever.

Our lives here are consumed with survival and extension and preservation of life while in our physical bodies.  We worry about having enough money; we worry about getting sick and never getting well; we worry about eventual death and the eventual death of our loved ones.

Through faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ through His death on the cross, we no longer have to worry about death.  Death is merely a door to living forever with God in His eternal spiritual, heavenly, all-good Kingdom.  Our lives here will end, because God has something greater in mind.  He loves us too much to leave us here infinitely.  Here there is evil as well as good, injustice, pain, illness, suffering, etc.  Here the air is ruled by His adversary.  It will always be harder here than God wants for us for eternity.

God uses life here to give us that beautiful, free-will choice, whether or not we want Him to be our Lord.  Do we want our own will our own way?  Or do we trust God is who He says?  If He is who He says, then He is superior in every regard and His plans for us are much greater and more fulfilling than any we have thought up for ourselves.  God has the power to bring to fulfillment all the ways He desires to use us, if we will seek to hear His voice (which He promises to teach us to hear when we seek it) and endeavor to follow where He leads because we trust Him.  God promises to take everything we experience and use it for ultimate good.

This is precisely because this life is not all there is.  There is infinitely more waiting for us behind death’s door.  In the meantime, once we have acknowledged Him as Savior and are bowing to Him as Lord, we have a job to do!

The world sets before us and invisible ladder of “success” and falsely teaches that if we will climb that ladder at all costs we will find fulfillment and riches at the top.

Yet, God is the true wealth.  All riches that we might accumulate here, do not continue on with us into eternity.  We have no need for worldly weath in eternity.  It’s only purpose is to help sustain us while we are still here living in our bodies.

Therefore accumulating title, position, power and money is pointless. It doesn’t last and it doesn’t lead to inner fulfillment.  This life is not all there is.  God promises to provide “enough” for us until the day He knows will be that of our physical death (when He brings us home).  Only God knows and controls this date.  He has created us for something greater than wealth and renown among humanity, which is fickle and passing away.

He has created us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and reveal Him to the world, so that all would have the opportunity to embrace Him, His way and enter into the promise of blessed eternal life which He offers all who will bow and seek to follow Him.

That is our purpose.  Nothing else.  To give Him “glory”.  Jesus was the example.  He listened for God’s instruction and only did as the Father would have Him do, trusting the Father would release His power in the right amount at the right time to complete that which He asked of Jesus. And the Father did.

Once Jesus becomes our Savior and Lord, we become adopted children of God, eternal citizens of God’s kingdom and ambassadors for His kingdom for as long as we are physically alive.  All we have to do is worship God because of who He is, listen for His instruction, then walk it out, regardless of apparent personal consequences.  God will use every single thing we go through for eternal good in our lives and/or the lives of those around us.

We don’t have to worry. We don’t have to struggle.  He is with us and His power is there to care for us.  We just have to live each day trusting He is who He says with our spiritual eyes and ears focused on Him.  He will not let us down.  We can rejoice in each day regardless of our position, living standard or circumstances because God has purpose for us where we are which goes far beyond this life. And if it is time for us to move on, then He will lead us.

How exquisite that God would love us so much that He invites us to eternity, but gives us the free will to decide on our own whether we want His way!  How re-assuring that He has all the power and promises to protect us and provide “enough” for us until it’s time for us to go home and jooin Him in eternity. How blessed that in every moment we have divine purpose with eternal consequences because God chooses to reveal Himself through us if we will let Him.

Finding God, then worshipping and serving Him is what life is all about.  Everything else is less and passing away.  This is where true fulfillment, freedom (from the world’s cares), abundant joy and inner peace are to be found.  It is that for which we were created.

Rejoice in the greatness of God, how much He loves us and how much He will use us for eternal good today!

EPH. 1:11-12, 16-23 (Amplified)

11 In Him we also were made [God’s] heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance; fir we had been foreordained (chosen and appointed beforehand) in accordance with His purpose, Who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory!

12 So that we who first hope in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory!

16 I do not cease to give thanks to you, making mention of you in my prayers,

17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that he may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into the mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,

18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),

19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength.

20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Himm from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],

21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is names [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.

22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], [Ps. 8:6.]

23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that.]

Prophetic Word ~ One Step At A Time

You lead us; we follow; we delight in Your way; You never let us go and fulfill every promise. You lead us; we follow; we delight in Your way; You never let us go and fulfill every promise.

My child, I am well pleased with You.  Keep going – one step at a time.  I am Your Father.  I will not let you go the wrong way so long as you are seeking Me with all your heart.  I am Your Shepherd.  I lead you in the way you should go and keep you from harm.  I am Your Bridegroom.  I love you beyond what you will ever grasp.  My love is infinite and never-ending.

So keep going one step after another though you cannot see the destination.  I will not fail.  My word will not return void and everything I have said I will do, I will do.

Come to me now in your weariness.  You want so much to please me that you have picked up the load again, which was never meant for you to carry.

All burdens are mine – not yours.  Maintain the attitude of a trusting child, busy about his or her current task and not worried about what comes next.  Lay all burdens at My feet so you can dance freely the way I intended.

My love for you knows no bounds and I have loved you and given my life for you before you ever knew Me.

Rest in Me.  Delight in Me. Do the work I have set before you in this moment with great joy.  Keep your eyes on Me and your day.  I will take you where I have promised.  It will be in My timing.  You do not need to focus there.  Just do your day.

Today plus tomorrow plus the day after that and one by one you will complete the steps which only I know which will take you where I have shown you.

But do not miss the joy of today.  Do not miss the blessing of today’s service in My name.  Enjoy the now.  Though it is not the fullness of what is to come, it is the fullness of the present moment and it is good.

Now even now I desire to use you and am using you every time you bow, listen, submit and obey.  For many who do not know it, today is all they have.  My fields are ripe for harvest.  Do today.  Rejoice. Do tomorrow.  Rejoice. Whether what you are doing seems large or small to you, it is all the same size to Me.  And after a time has passed  you will look and see the distance I have brought you.

But never forget the path you see before you is about more than service and more service to Me and those I love.  It is the path to greater closeness and intimacy with Me. And so you take a step today and another tomorrow, holding my hand, following where I lead and I will love others through you that they might know Me and with each step you will find your way deeper into My heart where you are invited to abide until we are together in the life to come for all eternity.
