2 Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray. 3 In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart]. (Ps. 5:2-3 Amplified)
God calls us to pray. He promises much if we will pray – most importantly that He will always answer according to His perfect will. He tells us to ask so that we will receive. He is waiting to hear from us. And yet for many it is as if there is an aversion to prayer.
The reasons are many. One promiment reason is the idea of being too busy to pray, that there is no time which can be set aside for prayer because other priorities of life are too pressing.
When we stop to consider this, it makes no sense! If he is God, then we are not in control; He is. Therefore we don’t have the power to steer our own destiny no matter hw much effort we put into it because all power lies with God; He enables all. It means He is the One who opens all doors along our path (or closes them), determining our speed and our progress.
We have to have the courage, faith and fortitude to walk through the doors He has opened, understanding all is by His power and not ours.
If we say we believe in God, then by definition we also believe in the invisible, supernatural, spiritual realm. “Supernatural” means superior to us (for we are natural). There is both the supernatural force of God’s good and the adversary’s evil at work in the supernatural spiritual realm which exist concurrently with the natural realm in which we physically exist. Who do we think we are that we could overcome spiritual evil without God? We can’t. Yet God’s power is with us, when we are with Him. Prayer is one way we are connected with Him.
Another obstacle to prayer can be the sense that we don’t know “how” to pray or don’t have the “gift” of prayer like others. Contrary to what we may think, there is no “formula” to pray. If we know how to think and how to talk, then we know how to pray. Prayer is our means to conversation with God. Of course, when we pray we are addressing the Creator of the universe. He is our KING! But at the same time, He is also our beloved Papa, our Daddy, our Abba-FAther. We are His beloved children. He loves us so much and delights in any effort we make to communicate. He knows we are learning. He isn ot looking for perfection. As in all things, He doesn’t care about fancy words because He is looking at our hearts.
So talk to Him! (And listen for what He has to say in return…) God conversations….God’s Spirit moving across the earth in response to our prayers…
Thru prayer much is birthed. He is honored; He releases His
supernatural power in response; the adversary’s schemes are defeated and turned
back on himself; God uses all things to restore more people to Him for
eternity; we receive increased peace, joy and manifold blessings throughout our
Blessed be God, Who has not rejected my prayer nor removed His mercy and loving-kindness from being [as it always is] with me. (Ps. 66:20 Amplified)
