The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

All creation declares Your glory & the glory of Your way. Speak to us, teach us, use us, lead us all for Your glory, too! We are Yours....

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org    www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

PSALM 19 (Amplified)

1  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.

2 Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.

4 Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world.  Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun.

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; and it rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

6 Its going forth is from the end of the heavens, and it scircuit to the ends of it; and nothing [yes, no one] is hidden from the heat of it.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.

9 The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his lapses and errors?  Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.

13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

“The heavens declare the glory of God….”  Such a beautiful phrase!  And yet, what does it mean?

How do the heavens declare His glory?  What does it mean to us that day after day pours forth speech and night after night shows forth knowledge, that though the stars have no speech, their voice is heard in evidence through all the earth?

Just this: the heavens declare His glory, and the stars speak to us steadily without speech about God’s Way.  All creation willingly submits itself to the sovereignty of God because it must.  All creation exists in His peace, emanating His peace, for He moves freely throughout all of His creation, using it whatever way He wills because it is completely subject to Him.  Only humanity was created with free will, necessitating an ongoing, conscious choice, whether to submit to the will of God (while trusting Him and resting in Him thus revealing His glory) or attempting to run away from His will.

Is He our God or is He not?  If He is, then He is worthy of our trust.  If He is not, then only our will matters and we are in control.  But are we ever really in control, no matter what we decide?  What power do we really have as individuals?

Thus we come full circle back to creation as a picture of God and His Way.  Can we control the sun?  He does.  Can we cause the weather we want to come to pass?  He can.  Do we control earthquakes or hurricanes?  He does.

We must re-assess our view of ourselves in light of the rest of creation, remembering we are the created, not the Creator.  Like the heavens, our role is to display His glory, that more might know He is God: ambassadors and lamps to shine His Light for the brief generation in which He has placed us.

Every time we smile because we know He is with us, every time we reach out with compassion because we feel His Holy Spirit nudge, every time we choose to forgive because we call on Jesus and He gives us the strength we could not have on our own – in each of these circumstances and so many more we fulfill our life purpose every day because He is using us to reveal the glory of God.

We are blessed to let our lives declare His glory.  We are blessed that He is in control and we are not.  We can walk in constant peace which surpasses understanding and joy which is not determined by circumstances, but springs up from within because He is God.

Selah! [Pause and calmly think of that!]

Sunday Praise & THANKSGIVING ~ August 28, 2011

LORD, You are the Way; Your Way is perfect. We bow before Your majesty, joining creation to declare Your glory.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro  (c)  2011     www.holyspiritpress.org      www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

Sunday ~ a divinely ordained pause to worship and praise Him.  And today we give special thanks for how He has heard our prayers!!! Halle Yahweh! (Hallelujah – Praise God!)

Note: I have always loved music and worship music, but have not always understood worship.  For many years it was just a word used to describe church service or a type of music.  But that changed radically in Feb. 2004 when friends prayed over me to start hearing (thus composing) new songs from heaven.  (Since their prayers I have composed over 350 worship songs and recorded more than 60.)  Then in Feb. 2005 the Lord gave me a vision which implied worship changes things.  I needed to understand what the vision meant.  I needed to understand His way.  After months spent in Scripture studying everything I could find about worship, it became clear that indeed God promises to respond to our worship with a release of His power, which changes things.  Thus worship is not a song, service, drum beat or lifting of hands (though all of these things with a worshipful mindset can be worship).  Worship is an attitude of heart which adores God in the majesty and sovereignty of who He is in our lives at all times.  Worship is the ultimate expression of our trust in Him, because we choose to spend precious time contemplating the awesome wonder of all He is, without the need to ask Him for anything.  It expresses to God we can abandon ourselves to worship Him because we trust He already has everything else handled – that which we can see and which we can’t.

Worship is not a Sunday activity, but a lifestyle.  However, Sunday is the traditional day within most Christian circles to take a pause from our work which helps refresh us and honors God as our ultimate provider and protector from whom all good things come.  Worship honors Him and strengthens us in Him.

On Sundays, to facilitate this “pause” before God, NUGGETS OF GOD’S WISDOM features Scripture, song lyrics and prayer to assist in laying down everything that burdens us and constrains the mind, to enter into blissful, restorative worship of the only One who can which writes His promises on our hearts.  ~ Elizabeth

PSALM 95 (Amplified)

1 O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation!

2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!

3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights and strength of the hills are His also.

5 The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.

6 O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and supplication].

7 For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.  Today, if you will hear His voice, [Heb. 3:7-11.]

8 Harden not your hearts…

LION AND LAMB  song & lyrics by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2009

1) Lamb of God, You have won.

Lion of Judah, You reign.

What You have said, You have done.

We rejoice.

CHORUS~

Lion of Judah, Lion of Judah

Lamb of God, Lamb of God

King of heaven, our Redeemer

You reign, You reign.

2) Lion of Judah on the throne,

Lamb of God, You were slain

Every battle, You have won.

We rejoice.

PRAYER

Lord, we bow once again and remain in awe of You.  We are so thankful.  Lord God, what looked like the worst has been a difficult storm, but You have spared us the wide-spread devastation which could have been.

You are God; there is no other.  You are Lord; we bow to You.  You alone can do all things.  All worship, praise and honor belong to You.  We pledge our allegiance, lives and hearts to You.  We rejoice.

Prayer for USA (Hurricane Irene)

Our trust is in You alone, Lord. Only You can stop, turn or lessen storms. We bow, pray & wait. See our hearts! Hear our prayer!

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011  www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

Lord, You are God. There is no doubt; there is no other.  You are Creator; You are the One with all power; You are the only One worthy of our attention, allegiance and worship.  You are King of kings and we the work of Your hands.  We come before You and bow, because we understand who You are.

You are a God who delights to restore.  You love us so much – so infinitely and unconditionally that Your grace (Your free, unmerited, unlimited, unconditional love) has always flowed freely to all generations.  You delighted to send Your Son, Jesus, for the redemption of the world.

Lord, You are also a God who is consistent and unchanging.  It has always been Your way, that in order to receive all the blessings You desire to pour out on us, You require only one thing – our allegiance and loyalty to You, acknowledging You are the Savior and Lord we need.  This demand for our allegiance and loyalty is no different than in any earthly kingdom, where those who desire to be part of a kingdom, bow to the resident king (ruler) and his laws.

And yet, in so many ways, our culture in the United States and in other formerly Christian nations has forgotten You and set You aside.

Today, as Hurricane Irene approaches our nation, so near the 6th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and so swiftly upon the heels of the unprecedented earthquake near our nation’s capitol, we stand in the gap for our nation as Your faithful remnant and ask for Your mercy and grace.

Confound the wise, and turn this hurricane out to sea or let it make landfall in a weaker state than expected.  Let it not do the predicted damage.

Lord, we know that when our government turns its back on Israel, when we offer our children as if to Molech through abortion and when we tolerate other ways of living which do not honor what You have asked of us, we are worthy of Your wrath.  We are asking for the loss of Your sovereign protection over this country.

Mercy, Lord God.  Have mercy on us.  Mercy, Lord God.  Have mercy on us.  Do you see the hearts of Your remnant?  Do You see us on our knees crying out to You on behalf of the entire nation?  Is it enough?  Will You hear?

Lord God, there are so many different ways, that you can bring us back to faith in You.  We are asking for another way which does not cause the death or injury or loss to the innocent (and to those who already fear Your name, but simply happen to be in the hurricane’s path).  Lord God, we understand this is earth, not heaven and that ugly, hard things will happen here and yet, still we ask.

You tell us to ask and keep on asking, so here we are.  Have mercy on us God, for we are sinners. Relent with this storm and instead release a massive wind of Your Spirit which breathes Your life into many, many hearts. Let it not be a devastating rain, but a spiritual rain of Your Living Water which restores and brings new life (for eternity).  Lord God, let it be Your Spirit which invades this country, not Hurricane Irene.

If, however, too many of us still are ignoring You, then Lord we acquiesce to Your will and have only one request…Use this hurricane for your glory.  Use this hurricane for Your glory!  Bring something good out of it!  Bring many people to faith and a full knoweldge of You through it. Lord God, do not waste this terror or potential damage.  Draw people closer to You in a way that restores their soul, brings them deep abiding joy and fills them with Your peace.

And yet, we cry again, Lord, could You please have mercy.  We can place our hope and trust only in You; we know You hear; we wait expectantly for Your result.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Lamps to Shine His Light

You are the Light of the world. You give our lives meaning. You love us and never let us go. We bow in awe.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro    www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

There is a moment which comes at dawn when the lights which illuminate the path in the darkness no longer are needed and the streetlights which have shone so faithfully through the night, though they may continue to shine, no longer play such a critical role.

It is the same in our walk with Christ.  Each of us begins from a place of not knowing Jesus personally.  Our only sign of Him is in the lives of those around us who do.

God says we are here to be His ambassadors – to shine forth His glory (the majesty of all He is) to those around us.  We cannot be everywhere at all times. Even Jesus while living in His physical body on earth was only in one place at a time.  So like lamposts and streetlights most of us stand day by day in the same place, where we may not feel useful and fulfilled.

God knows. He sees.  And we are not forgotten, but in His service.

Lamposts cannot move on their own.  They are placed; they are moved when the Master Builder decides it is time.  Know you are being used where you are though how things are may not be your choice.  You are on assignment for the King.

And as those who walk along the lit path of which you are a part experience the dawn of the Son in their lives, then they too become lamposts and vessels through which His Light shines along the way for those still in darkness.

Selah! [Pause and calmly think of that!]

We Pledge Allegiance to GOD

You hem us in before & behind and set the boundaries around us. Your Way and plan are perfect. We can rest and rejoice in You at all times for You are faithful!

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

PSALM 16 (NIV)

1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”  3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”  4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.  I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.  5 LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.  6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.  7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.  8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD.  With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faith one see decay.  11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Sometimes we need a reminder.  Our first allegiance is to God and nothing else.  When we pledge our allegiance to Him, and seek to walk out every moment His way, trusting He will enable exactly what is best in light of His eternal purposes, our hearts fill with His incomprehensible peace and joy and we can be at rest in Him in all circumstances.

Even in work we know is from and for God, we can become so pressed to carry the worry and responsibility for the “success” of these projects, that we forget God’s place in it all.  He is the refuge and apart from Him we have no good thing.  Our hearts can rest secure because He will enable that which He defines as success for the projects He has given us.  He counsels us and guides us, always ready to communicate with us, dropping thoughts and sensations into our minds and hearts which do not contradict His Way or His Word.  He sets boundary lines for us in pleasant places.  This means as the perfect parent (Abba, Father!), He goes before us, along with us and behind us, child-proofing any “doors” (directions) which look good to us, but He knows are not part of His perfect plan (and therefore would not be good).

God’s eyes are always on using all things to reveal who He is to those who don’t yet know Him, so they too can pledge allegiance to Him and let Him guide them in the pleasant way they are to go on earth (being used by God even in the difficulties which are an inherent part of this life).  His eyes are on us and His plan from here through eternity.

When our eyes are on Him, He helps us maintain His overview and perspective.  With His objectives in sight, nothing shakes us, we can rejoice and are always anchored in His peace.  Indeed He makes known to us the path of life, fills us with joy in His presence and eternal pleasures by His side.  What could be better?!

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that!]

GOD’s Beauty in Unexpected Places

Your beauty is in the hidden places ready to delight those who have eyes to see. Lord, teach us to see!

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

I have had the privilege of being in Cleveland the past few days dropping off one of our daughters for her first year of college where she will be studying nursing.  This afernoon while she was at orientation, the Lord led me to the shores of Lake Erie (which is near campus) to go for a walk.

At initial glance the path was not what I had been expecting.  Indeed the lake is beautiful, appearing more like an ocean where as far as the eye can see the distant horizon meets the sky.  However, the shoreline where I found access was actually no shoreline at all, but a man-made barrier constructed of large boulders and cement seemingly to hem the Great Lake in so that there is no erosion when waves surge during winter and storms.

There was a walkway, but where I had expected and hoped it would be a place where I could connect with God, initially it was not.  Cars on the freeway roared adjacent and an older brick factory loomed on the freeway’s opposite side.  As attractive as the factory was, it was not the time in “God’s creation” I had been anticipating all weekend.

Still it was a place to walk and so I meandered along the paths made by the cement and atop the boulder barriers.  At the Holy Spirit’s prompting, I walked around again.

The first time all I saw was ugly, necessary rock tossed into place by human machinery which seemed to have been infiltrated over the years by weeds. But as I began the second time around, God began to fill me with an increase of His peace and nudged me simultaneously to slow down and really look.

Instead of weeds, these were plants and flowers growing in between the jagged boulders.  Where one would think nothing could grow, elements of God’s beauty found a way to be and thrive, but God had had to slow me down and give me eyes to see (and I had to be willing to pause and look).

Moment by moment with every new step I took, He opened my eyes to more. The first plant I noticed was wild grapes. The vines climbed over many of the boulders and ripe dark grapes ready to be harvested were abundant in the late afternoon sunshine.  Then wherever I looked next there seemed to be one more type of flower which had found a way to grow in the harsh environment in which it found itself.

And I thought of our lives and how many times all we can see are the huge boulders which may be a part of our circumstances by necessity, but on initial glance appear completely ugly, creating a dangerous but necessary obstacle with no beauty at all.  And yet, if God can cause beauty to grow in these man-made boulder barriers, how much more can He do it in every aspect of our lives. ~ Elizabeth

PRAYER

Lord, give us eyes to see Your beauty in the hard and ugly places.  Help us to see not just ugliness, but to recognize the small bits of beauty which You cause to grow between the rocks.  By the leading and power of the Holy Spirit, use us in the lives of others to be the beautiful wildflowers and grapes growing inbetween the harsh boulders and barriers which sometimes surround them.  Let Your love be the water which nourishes these plants and may each person in whose presence You place us, gradually become a planting of beauty in rough, unwelcome places to bless others as well.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

PSALM 90 (Amplified)

1 LORD, You have been our dwelling place and our refuge in all generations [says Moses].

1LORD, YOU have been our dwelling place and our refuge in all
generations [says Moses].  2 Before the mountains were brought forth or ever You had formed and given birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God.  3 You turn man back to dust and corruption, and say, Return, O sons of the earthborn [to the earth]!  4 For a thousand years in Your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night….8 Our iniquities, our secret heart and its sins [which we would so like to conceal even from ourselves], You have set in the [revealing] light of Your countenance….11 Who knows the power of Your anger? [Who worthily connects this brevity of life with Your recognition of sin?] And Your wrath, who connects it with the reverent and worshipful fear that is due You? 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom….14 O satisfy us with Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning [now, before we are older], that we may rejoice and be glad all our days….16 Let Your work [the signs of Your power] be revealed to Your servants, and Your [glorious] majesty to their children. 17 And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands–yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.

PRAYER

Lord, for each of us life seems to be filled with constant tumult, but You are constant throughout all generations.  No matter what we face, You are there with us until You call us home.  What we face if not new to You and You foreknew.  You also are never ending, unchanging, infinite love.  And so, You already know what You plan to do in response to all which we will ever face.  You invite us not to worry, and to put our trust in You.  In fact, to the extent we worry, our faith could be questioned, for how can we say we have faith if we do not trust You to be who You say You are and to do what You say You will do.  We confess holding onto our own plans instead of embracing Yours.  We confess wanting what we want for we are like small children as compared to You and we do not have Your overview.  Help us, oh Lord, to let go of our plans and trust that You know our hearts’ desire.  Help us to trust that as the perfect parent You will give us and our loved ones what is best for each of us in light of eternity.  Help us to gain Your overview and stop viewing our lives from here until natural death and begin to view life from here to eternity.  See our hearts.  We do seek You and Your way.  How we desire to rest in You for You have been our dwelling place for all generations.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

You Are A Star!

In the darkness before the dawn, by Your Spirit You use us to light the way to You for others. Humbled, unworthy, listening and wanting to obey, we bow in awe.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011   www.holyspiritpress.org   www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

You are a star!  Yes, you!  Did you know it?  More important than any celebrity (the colloquial use of the word, ‘star’), you are a star for God.  At least, that is the way He desires to use you.

Everything in the natural gives us a picture of how things work in the invisible spiritual realm because God is constant.  The stars God created light up our night sky. For centuries they have been used by humanity for effective navigation, helping people to find their way.

To us our lives appear filled with natural light during the day and man-made light at night, thus illuminating the various ways we could go and enabling us to see possibilities and paths.  We think we have clear and complete vision.  But this is a deception.  What we can see with our physical vision only gives us a glimpse of the natural.  The supernatural, invisible spiritual realm exists concurrently with the natural realm which is most familiar to us because of our dependence upon our five natural senses.  In the spiritual realm there is darkness and light as well and there are different paths which lead in different directions.  Only one leads to God.

Jesus is described as the Light of the world.  John 1 describes Him beautifully: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  (John 1:1-5 NIV)

Jesus is the only One who comes into the spiritual darkness in which we find ourselves without Him and illuminates the Way we are to go because He is the Truth and thus the only Way to eternity with God.  He is the Life and in Him and through Him only is there life for us.  When we choose to see the Light He shines, showing the way to God, and we begin to follow where He leads, we become as lampposts shining His Light along the way for others.  He lives in us by His Spirit; we walk out the Truth of His way of living now and into eternity.  Others see His Way through His Light at work in our lives.  And because the world by nature is spiritually dark, but for the pinpoints of Light to be seen from those of use who shine Him, we become His stars.  When our focus is on following Him, His Light shines through us as navigational points to others who are looking for His hope, truth and how to follow.

Yes, we are stars every day wherever life takes us.  When we allow Him to use us in this way because we have chosen to follow Him and trust in Him at all costs, worshipping even when it doesn’t make sense, He is uses us for eternal effect.  (What glorious purpose!)

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence – continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good.14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life… (Philippians 2:12-16a NIV)

Every Person Matters

LORD, to You alone we pledge our allegiance. We need You & Your Way. Fill us with Your Spirit and use us as You will; we are nothing without You. In You we have life and purpose.

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro   www.holyspiritpress.org    www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

As some of you know, this spring when I was asked if I had a song for 9-11-11 (and I did not), I asked God what message He had for us now that is has been ten years since the heinous terrorist attacks on our country.  In response, He dropped the song, “One Nation Under God” into my head, and had me reserve the studio six weeks in advance to begin recording it on the morning He knew would be following the death of Osama Bin Laden (who died on the day Catholics celebrated Jesus as the Divine Mercy and Pope John Paul II was beatified).  Such polar opposites!

So again I asked God, why did you arrange for the recording of a song, which is Your message for us today in light of these attacks and takes us back to 9-11-01 and forward to today on this ominous date?  He whispered to my heart that the song has a two-fold focus.

First, as a nation we do need to declare we are one nation under God, which the song facilitates.  What we declare we become.  Even on July 4, 1776 when we declared our independence as a nation we were far from it.  We had years yet of war to fight before we finally became independent.   We need to declare we are “one nation under God” to encourage us to stand strong until what we are declaring again becomes reality.

Secondly, as we approach the 10th year since the attacks, we need to never forget the evil which came against us, but our individual focus should be more on remembering our response.  People who were unknown in the eyes of broader society (and thus not attributed any particular value by the population at large) stepped into the work put before them that day and made a huge difference.  People helped people in heroic ways – not because they were any better or worse than anyone else, but because they were faithful to what needed to be done regardless in many cases of the immense persnal cost (even unto death).  This is the essence of a true hero.

We need to remember that this is what makes a hero – nothing less.  And we need to remember that every person is of infinite worth to God (this means you!) and that He desires to use each of us if we merely are as willing as those on 9-11-01 (this means you!) for extraordinary purposes, which will have eternal impact in the lives of others.

Sometimes He does this by having us step out of our normal roles; sometimes He uses us right where we are.  Every person matters.  Every person is important.  Every person is of equal value.  No exceptions.  This is the way of our God.

The value of each individual is one of the key messages of verses two and three of the song.  (The song can be viewed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d593RguxQI8 )  The message for us is that as we each simply do what God lays before us daily loving others being present to them, encouraging them, forgiving them, resting in God’s peace and joy no matter what is going on around us, God connects our seemingly insignificant little pieces into a quilt of His love and righteousness with which He covers the world. ~ Elizabeth

Every person matters.  You and you and you!  Every person is important and of equal value in the eyes of God.  One of the places in the Bible He explains this exquisitely is in 1 Cor. 12:12-26

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized byone Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.   (1 Cor. 12:12-26 NIV)

Most especially read again 1 Cor. 12:21-26.  As usual, God’s way simply is not ours!  His Way is so magnificently beter! How He made our bodies is a reflection of how He values.

God made our bodies so the parts everyone admires – like our eyes, hands, arms, legs, hair, etc we can live without.  But who ever says, “my, you have beautiful kidney!” or “wow, what a pancreas!” or “your lungs are stunning!”?  And yet without these parts of the body, we die.  Thus that which is not admired and receives no recognition is actually the most critical component of all!

If you feel like you are hidden to society, if it seems your work is insignificant, if you think your external appearance doesn’t seem to match up with what society values, God – Creator of the universe, and all-powerful Master of all knows your value is critical to the whole and He delights in you!

Selah! [Pause, and calmly think of that!]

You are Beloved, Chosen By GOD & Beautiful!

Your Way is higher, better and Truth! Halle Yahweh (Praise You, God!)

by Elizabeth Burgard Fulgaro (c) 2011  www.holyspiritpress.org    www.eaglesnestfoundation.org

In February 2010 I was asked to lead a time of contemplation or meditation at our church women’s retreat.  When I asked the Lord, what He wanted for the women, He highlighted the mirror which would be in each participant’s gift bag and reminded me that how most women see themselves is not the way God desires.  No matter how beautiful others see them, I cannot think of a woman who believes she is beautiful.

Of course, God’s way is different.  He sees our beauty from the inside out.  He knows the body we live in is a mere temporary tent for our physical lifetimes.  And He knows He made us beautiful and in His image.  He loves us infinitely as we are and chooses us as His adopted children, beloved bride through whom He works to accomplish His eternal purposes on the earth.

The negative barrage on our minds can be overwhelming at times.  It is good to take moments daily to pause to see ourselves from God’s perspective so we can stop spending so much time beating up on ourselves and realize who we are in Him and to Him.  Below are statements based on Scripture (they are NOT direct quotes from a particular translation).  These are the Truth of who we are to God.  These are God’s promises.  It is a partial list, please go through your own Bible to find more.

May be always be reminded by His Spirit to see ourselves through His eyes, embrace His love and spread it to others.  May you be refreshed and encouraged.

AND MEN, this is for you, too.  If the word “beautiful” isn’t an appealing adjective with which to describe yourself, insert “handsome” or even “successful” and get a better picture of how the Father sees you!

May we be set emotionally free by the Truth of how God sees us. (And His opinion is the only one, which matters.)

~Elizabeth

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

God created you in His own image.  In the image of God He created you.  (from Gen. 1:27)

The Spirit of God made you, the breath of the Almighty give you life.  (from Job 33:4)

He made you a little lower than the angels and crowned you with glory and honor.  (from Ps. 8:5)

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that you who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (from John 3:16)

To you who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – born not of natural descent nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (from John 1:13)

He chose you in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.  In love He predestined you to be adopted as His daughters through Jesus Christ in accordance with His pleasure and will. (from Eph. 1:4)

He says,  “I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” (from Jer. 31:3)

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into His wonderful life.  Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not receive mercy, but now you have received mercy. (from 1 Peter 2:9-10)

He says, “I am the Bread of Life.” (from John 6:48)

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you.  You will seek and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (from Jer. 29:11-13)

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for you.  His love endures forever; He will not abandon the works of His hands. (from Ps. 138:8)

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness” makes His light to shine in your heart to give you the light of the knowledge of God in the face of Christ. (from 2 Cor. 4:6)

But you have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God not from you.  (from 2 Cor. 4:7)

He says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness….For when you are weak, then you are strong.”  (from 2 Cor. 12:9)

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

For you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  (from Eph. 2:10)

And you know all things in God work for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  (from Rom. 8:28)

Therefore there is now no condemnation for you who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spriti of life set you free from the law of sin and death.  (from Rom. 8:1)

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.  (from Ps. 37:4)

You are beloved and chosen by God; He made you beautiful and in His image.

(Now read what follows below out loud , know it is for YOU and trust God that what He has written in His Book is True)

PS  139

1O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.

2You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

4Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.

5You hem me in–behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

7Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

8If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

9If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

11If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”

12even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

17How precious tome are your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!

18Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you

Eph 2

10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

 PS. 63

3Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

4I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

I am beloved and chosen by God.  He made me in His image and beautiful…

Selah [Pause, and calmly think of that]!
