Once we become followers of Jesus Christ, we must never forget we are ambassadors on Kingdom business. We are no longer citizens of this world. So though we live in the world our priorities are not the same as those around us. Neither do we wage war as the world does. We are always – every moment of every day, wherever we are – about Kingdom business (and we know we can do nothing without Him).
There is only one objective: to re-present the Kingdom so by the Spirit’s work in our lives, others will catch a glimpse of our Lord, want Him for themselves, seek Him and find Him.
Thus, our purpose is simple. Everywhere we go, everything we are, is to re-present the Kingdom.
Of course, we cannot accomplish this by our own power. We need the Holy Spirit flowing through us, which occurs when we are a branch attached to the Vine, Jesus Christ, (which happens when we are in His will).
God’s will is not always exotic or exciting. To citizens of this world, His will sometimes can look quite mundane.
It is important that as His ambassadors we are careful not to become poisoned by the world’s wrong perception and false expectations. We never want to de-value or under-estimate the eternal value of the work God has given us for the current day and hour. We do everything in joyful hope, in glorious expectation of what God will work through it for His eternal purposes in people’s lives, not because of what we can see or measure ourselves.
Together as believers we indeed are an army about the Lord’s business. In an army, every member is of critical value. So it is for us.
Rejoice and be glad! We are blessed to do the work of our hands and the battle is the Lord’s!
1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Isa. 60:1-3
20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Cor 5:20-21
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out[a] the word of life— Phili. 2:14-16a
10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph. 2:10
